TURTLE-LY AMAZING!

Holiday Adventures

Hello again everyone! Its Dhanya here and today, I wanted to share my holiday adventures with you guys. I spent a total of five days of my holidays travelling in Malaysia itself. We didn't have an ample amount of time; however, we managed to travel to Tanjong Jara, Terengganu and Kuantan.
Now, have you ever watched a turtle lay eggs on a beach in person? If so, directly behind it? I can finally answer that question with a confident "Yes. I believe I have and it was truly an once-in-a-lifetime experience".

We booked the turtle watching tour the moment we had arrived at the hotel and waited for their call from 8 pm, as we were told that they would call anytime from then until 11 pm. We had been having dinner and awaited their call together. As the minutes ticked by, we were getting more and more exhausted and our hope began to fade. At around 10.30 pm, we finally got a call from reception alerting us of a possibility to watch a turtle lay eggs. We raced to the beach, accompanied by members of the turtle conservation club.
There were three turtles on the beach that night; however, two left after digging their holes. The third turtle had dug its hole and we approached it slowly as it began to lay its eggs. The total number of eggs came up to 180! After giving birth, the turtle's body temperature rises for about 45 minutes as it covers its eggs. We took this time to take pictures with the turtle and pet it. It sounds surreal just saying it!
Half an hour had passed and we were told to leave the beach but before exiting the beach area, we were taken to the turtle hatchery. There, we saw about a dozen holes in the ground filled with eggs and several dozen more holes which we empty. After all, there were give or take two months more for the turtle's to lay their eggs. It was truly an incredible experience and I'm happy I could share it with everyone here!
I spent the next few days enjoying my holidays with my family by the beach and later on, we travelled by car to Kuantan. We met my cousin there and spent EVEN more time at the beach. (but I mean WHO DOESNT LIKE THE BEACH?) We also visited the Sungai Lembing Museum and went on a day-long food trail in town. I cant say I didnt enjoy it because it was a lot of fun and the food was amazing! Well, that's all for now. Adios, Wonderers!
